Agriculture

The next figure shows the final energy consumption of the agricultural sector in 2000 and 2021, and an analysis of factors which have affected the observed change in consumption (so-called decomposition analysis).

  • Final energy consumption of agriculture was at the 2000 level in 2021.
  • Growth in sectoral activity would have increased energy consumption by 3.3 TWh, all other things equal. 
  • Other factors, such as energy savings and structural factors, reduced the consumption by 3.0 TWh.
