European Energy Network EnR

European Energy Network (EnR) is a voluntary network of European energy agencies which aims at promoting sustainable energy good and best practice. EnR strengthens cooperation between members and key European actors on issues relevant to sustainable energy.

The member agencies, currently numbering 25, have responsibility for issues like planning, management or review of national research, development, demonstration or dissemination programmes in the fields of energy efficiency, renewable energy and climate change abatement in their countries. Ministries are not among the members.

EnR promote international comparison and information sharing. It takes place primarily through Working Groups: behaviour change, buildings, energy efficiency, industry, labelling & ecodesign, monitoring tools, renewable energy, transport and water&energy nexus.

EnR operates on voluntary basis and is managed by a yearly rotating Presidency and Secretariat and a Troika management committee. Motiva held the Presidency of the network in 2004.

The network members meet in bi-annual management meetings.

EnR provides a first point of contact for national energy agencies in EU Member States. EnR dedicates its efforts towards joint activities where its unique character provides added value at both a European and individual Member State level.
