Sustainable Development
The purpose of sustainable development is to maintain prospects of good living for both present and future generations. Sustainable development consists of ecological, economic, social, and cultural sustainability. Therefore, the environment, the human as well as the economy must be considered in decision-making.The modern concept of sustainable development is derived mostly from the 1987 report “Our Common Future” by the UN Brundtland’s commission. It defines that sustainable development meets the needs of present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
In 2015, the UN Member States adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development containing altogether 17 primary Sustainable Development Goals and 169 secondary goals. They aim at turning the global development into a track, where the wellbeing of humans, human rights, economic prosperity, and the stability of societies will be ensured in an environmentally sustainable manner. They also aim at the eradication of extreme poverty from the world.

We only have this one globe with limited raw materials. Since the natural resources of the globe are restricted, it is important to adjust human activities to a level, which can preserve the sufficiency of both renewable and nonrenewable natural resources and the carrying capacity of the nature on the earth.
The natural resources of the globe are restricted, so human activities must be adjusted to a level preserving the sufficiency of natural resources and the carrying capacity of the nature.
The sustainable and responsible change must be accelerated. This requires determined action in state government, in municipalities as well as in companies. The citizens, too, must be taken aboard into implementing the goals and targets of sustainable development.
