Energy Use in Finland
This section provides information on Finland’s energy supply and energy consumption by end-use sectors based on statistics published by Statistics Finland. In addition, you will find information on the impact of energy efficiency measures as well as on measuring energy efficiency of different sectors. At a Glace
Information on the energy balance of Finland as well as on the effectiveness of energy efficiency measures and progress in renewable energy use in the energy sector.
Total Energy Consumption
Total energy consumption describes total consumption of domestic energy sources and imported energy in Finland. It includes fuels used in the production and processing of energy, and energy used in final consumption, including transport fuels and fuels used for heating buildings.
Final Consumption of Energy
Final consumption of energy measures the consumption of final energy products used by industry, households and other consumers after transformation and transmission losses have been removed from total energy consumption. In this section you will find detailed information on energy consumption of each end use sector.
Electricity Supply and Demand
Information on electricity supply sources as well as electricity consumption in different sectors.
Carbon Dioxide Emissions
Although greenhouse gas emissions from the energy sector have declined, the sector still accounts for a significant share of the total emissions in Finland.
Measuring Energy Efficiency
The Finnish Energy Authority has financed Motiva’s studies on measuring energy efficiency in different sectors by indicators and an annual publication on energy efficiency trends.
