How You Can Save Energy

Every day we make choices that affect our use of energy, both at home, at work and in our free time. Decisions influence our attitudes, preferences and consumption routines. We can make energy saving more effective when each of us becomes aware of our own role and avoid needless consumption. Energy economising does not have to limit our lives, but energy must be used sensibly.

Up to half of energy use in the home is for heating. Heating water consumes a fifth. The last third is taken up by electric appliance and lighting. In a block of flats, too, about 40% of the maintenance charge is spent on energy and water.

Family members can do their bit to reduce energy consumption at home. Switch off unwanted lights and appliances, set the temperature correctly, use the right ventilation and use water attentively.
